Bishop Lester Lorenzo Williams was born in Putnam, Alabama on September 30, 1952. He was educated in the Marengo County and Mobile Public Schools. He was baptized by the late Rev. Saul David Williams at the Gooden Hill Baptist Church and later moved to Mobile where he united with the Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church under the Rev. Thomas James Hayles. He graduated with honors from the Central High School, Mobile, Ala., and furthered his studies at Xavier University of New Orleans. After graduation in 1974, with a B. A. in Secondary English Education, he began his teaching career in the New Orleans and Jefferson Parish School Systems.

He was called into the Gospel Ministry in January 1976 and furthered his studies at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a M.R.E. degree in January 1982. In 1993, he received his Doctorate of Ministry degree from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. On November 2004, Bishop Williams was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity by the Saint Thomas Christian College of Jacksonville, Florida, for his work in ministry.

In 1988, he was unanimously called to the Community Baptist Church of Christ, Jamaica, New York by its membership. He assumed the role of Pastor on October 2, 1988, with his first message "Who Will Help Me Build These Walls."Bishop Williams has a high regard for ministry and oversees all aspects of it with a Spirit of Excellence.

Bishop Williams and his church became an affiliate of the FGBCF in 1994. As a fellowship member, he was very active and supportive of the visionary, Bishop Paul S. Morton. While in the FGBCF, he was ordained an Elder and was elevated in 1995, to District Overseer of the Western New York State area. In 1997, he was installed as a State Overseer of the Eastern New York area and in 1999, he was consecrated to the sacred office of Bishop.

In 2000, Bishop Williams received a new vision from God with new directives. This vision spurred Bishop Williams to withdraw his affiliation with the FGBCF and establish the Community Churches of Christ of America uder the tutelage of Bishop J. Delano Ellis. Since its inception, Bishop Williams has led several biennial leadership conferences to South Africa, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Bishop Lester L. Williams has become a sought after voice of reasoning in the South Jamaica area and the surrounding communities and is constantly called upon by the Police and Elected Officials to help establish better relationships and understanding between officials and constituents. For this reason, he was appointed by the Police Commissioner to the Advisory Committee on Police Tactics and Strategies.

Bishop Lester L. Williams is married to the lovely Shirley Graham Williams and they have three beautiful daughters: Jasmine, Jessica, and Jaia.

Bishop Lester L. Williams is currently the Chief Prelate of The Community Churches of Christ International and Senior Pastor of the Community Church of Christ, Jamaica, New York. He is an acclaimed academician and his theological astuteness is evident in the role as a faculty member of New Life School of Theology, Amityville, New York and Adjunct Professor at Unification Theological Seminary. He is a newly published author. He has written a mentoring book entitled, "Pastoring in the Shadows" and a book entitled "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."  He is an accomplished recording artist and has released two CD's to his credit, one featuring "Inheritance", his daughters.

God has given him much, as he is a truly anointed and highly appointed man of God with a vision for Such A Time As This!!!.
